GRYSKLL Cancels Project 2025

GRYSKLL was planning to release a mini project inspired by three of the crew’s last four singles. As it happens so often with GRYSKLL, these songs serendipitously felt connected through more than Bobby Fischer who made the beats. The songs were each written and recorded separately by different artists with no intentions to “connect them" to anything else in the GRYSKLL universe.

After realizing we were naturally releasing the songs, which all had sociopolitical inspired themes, the idea came up to release them as a 3 piece maxi-single named “Project 2025”. Because of the theme, we even considered including another of our favorite political passion pieces “America in Cursive” from our first project, “A Tension Deficit”

Classic, pioneering political passion pieces like “The Message”, “Fight the Power” & “Why Is That” helped pave the path for GRYSKLL’s recent singles. Once we heard the artists who created those songs (Melle Mel, Chuck D & KRS One) were releasing a mixtape named “Project 2025” (produced by Scorpio of the Furious Five),

GRYSKLL chose to change plans. Many crew members grew up listening to these artists during Hip Hop’s Golden Era and we’ve all developed degree of respect and love for the pioneers that has more than earned them the right to the title.
